AI pricing

Hosted builders resell AI as credits with a monthly allowance. Splitleaf connects to your own provider account, at the provider's price. This page shows how each tool charges, from each vendor's own pages.

One month on Basic buys about three landing pages

Framer's own figures

Framer's Basic plan includes 1,000 credits a month. Framer says that a generated landing page costs about 300 credits on the default model. That is about three generated pages a month, or twenty small edits. A stronger model costs more: Framer lists one at 1.8 times the default.

A meter changes how you work

You ration a metered thing. You ask once, not five times. You accept the first result, and you skip the small fix. That is the opposite of how AI is useful on a website, where the tenth headline is often the good one.

What your own key changes

In Splitleaf the price of AI is the price your provider publishes. You choose the model for each task, a small one for a small edit. The agent panel shows what each chat used. Splitleaf adds nothing on top, and nothing stops at the end of a month.

The meter goes away when the model runs on your device

Models are moving to your device

A Mac or PC already holds models that needed a server room a few years ago. When the next question costs a little electricity, you ask far more questions.

A browser tab cannot use that chip

A hosted builder has to run AI on its servers and charge you for it. A tool on your device does not.

The app is already there

The agent already runs from your machine on your own key, with no server of ours in between. As the models move onto the chip, nothing about that has to change.

Questions about AI cost

Do I pay Splitleaf for AI?
No. You connect your own key and pay your provider at its normal price. Splitleaf runs no server between you and the model and adds no markup. The agent panel shows the usage of each chat.
Is AI in Splitleaf free, then?
No. You pay the model provider for what you use. What you do not pay is a second price on top of it, and you have no monthly allowance that runs out.
Is the AI local today?
Not yet. The agent calls the provider you connect, on your own key, and you pay that provider directly. Local models are the next step. The app is already in the right place for them, because it runs on your machine and on your files.
What does a task cost with my own key?
It depends on the model you choose and the size of your site. We have not published a measured figure yet. We will publish the method, the prompts and the raw usage when we do, so that you can check it.
What happens when Framer AI credits run out?
By Framer's own help article, the features that use credits pause, and new requests are blocked until the credits reset or you buy more. Unused credits do not carry over to the next cycle.
Where are my API keys stored?
On Splitleaf's server in the EU, encrypted, for that one site. A key is never written to your site folder, so it never ends up in your repository.
