The license, once. The license includes 12 months of updates. The app you bought keeps working and publishing after that. A future major version is an optional paid upgrade. Team sync costs $6 a month for each person beyond the free ones, because that part runs on our servers.

Common questions

Do I need the Team plan to use Splitleaf?
No. Every feature works fully on the license alone. The Team plan only adds live multiplayer sync, presence, and instant site transfers for workspaces with more people than the free allowance.
Why isn't multiplayer sync just included in the license?
Sync and presence run on our servers in real time, for as long as people are editing together. That is an ongoing cost, unlike the app itself, which runs locally on your machine once you own the license. The $6/mo keeps that infrastructure funded without raising the price for people working solo.
How many people are actually free?
Every workspace includes its owner for free. Every site includes its first collaborator for free. You only ever pay per unique person beyond that, never per site, and never twice for the same person.
Are sites really free, no matter how many I build?
Yes. Sites don't have plans or tiers. Add 1 or 100. The only thing metered is the number of unique people collaborating.
What happens if I remove someone from a workspace?
Their seat frees up immediately, and the unused portion credits your next renewal. Team is billed annually, so upgrades are prorated and charged right away, while downgrades simply reduce your next bill.
What happens after the 12 months of updates?
The app you bought keeps working and keeps publishing. The license includes 12 months of updates. A future major version is an optional paid upgrade.
Do I pay Splitleaf for AI?
No. You connect your own key and pay your provider at its normal price. Splitleaf runs no server between you and the model and adds no markup. The agent panel shows the usage of each chat.
What happens to my site if Splitleaf shuts down?
Your live site keeps running. It is plain HTML and CSS on your own host, and its history is in your own GitHub repository. The source is a folder of HTML, CSS and Markdown files on your disk that opens in any code editor. What depends on our servers: sign-in, the license check after a 90-day offline grace period, team sync and your stored API keys.
