0.1.30

Start a new site from a seed. Pages, components, style sheets and CMS items keep a history, and you can restore an earlier version. Add transitions in the style panel, let the agent read your Google Search Console data, and export a chat.

Added

Seeds

You can now start a new site from a seed. A seed is a finished site with demo text and images that you make your own. On Home, open the Seeds tab. Search the seeds or filter them by category. Select a seed to see its live demo at desktop and phone size, with its pages, collections and the date of its last update. Preview opens the demo in your browser. Use seed makes the new site in Documents/Splitleaf and opens it. If a seed needs a newer version of Splitleaf, you see Update Splitleaf instead. When you have no sites yet, Home offers to start from a seed.

History

Each page, component, style sheet and CMS item now has a history of its versions since the last publish. In the designer, select History in the top bar. In a CMS item, select History next to Undo. Select a version to see it, read-only. Marks show what restoring it changes: struck text goes away and marked text comes back. Restore this version puts it back as a new version, so your current version stays in the history. The version that is on the live site has the Live label.

Transitions

The style panel has a new Transition section, between Appearance and Typography. Select Add transition, then set the property, duration, delay and easing. An element can have more than one transition.

Search Console

The agent can now read the Google Search Console data for your site: clicks, impressions and position for each page. Open Site settings, then Integrations. Select Connect, sign in to Google in your browser, then choose the property for the site. Splitleaf can only read Search Console data. Then ask the agent how your pages perform in search. Disconnect removes the agent's access for this site.

Changed

Agent tasks

An agent task now belongs to its site. It continues when you open a different site, go to Home or close the chat tab. Only Stop or Quit ends it. The chat comes back when you open its site again, or from Chat history. On Home, a site card shows Working while the agent works, and Waiting for you when the agent asks you something. On a Mac, if you close the window while the agent works, Splitleaf hides the window. Click the Dock icon to show it again.

Brand

The Brand tab now opens your variables in a table next to the canvas. Variables are in groups: Colors, Fonts, Sizes, Shadows, Other and the groups you add. Each variable has a Base value. Add a variant, for example dark, to give a variable a different value in that variant. You can search variables, drag them to a new order and move them to a new group. Select more than one variable to delete them in one step. Splitleaf first tells you how many of them are in use. Pages that use a deleted variable keep its value.

Assets view

The Assets view now has a list view with columns that you can sort. Right-click a file to rename it, reveal it in Finder, add it to the agent chat or delete it. When you rename or move a file, Splitleaf updates every page and CMS item that uses it. File settings show the pages that use a file. Select more than one file to move or delete them, or add them to the chat, in one step. Search finds files in the open folder and its subfolders. Deleted files go to Site settings > Removed. When you add a file that has the same name as a different file in the site, Splitleaf asks you to replace the file or rename the new one.

Content view

In Content, select more than one item, then use Set state to publish, draft, archive or delete them in one step. Search finds items by title, slug or text.

Required fields

A CMS item with an empty required field now shows Incomplete. A new item that is incomplete does not go live. If a live item becomes incomplete, the live site keeps its last published version until you fill in the field.

Fonts

Fonts are now a group in the Brand view. Add a Google font by name or category, or upload your own font files: WOFF2, WOFF, TTF or OTF. Splitleaf keeps the font files in your site, so the live site does not load fonts from Google. The Brand view now also finds fonts that your site sets through variables or loads from a font service link. Font rules from an imported site or from the agent stay in place when you change fonts.

Publish view

In Publish, changes to variables and fonts are now rows of their own, Variables and Fonts, under Brand. You publish or discard them like a page. On a site with staging, when you publish from Staged, changes that are not on staging stay on your computer. Splitleaf tells you which ones. When Splitleaf asks you which version to keep, the publish continues after you answer.

Open in browser

Open in browser now always shows a full build of your site with CMS content. The tab does not reload by itself. After a change, a small popover tells you that a new version is ready, with Reload and Close. If a build fails, select View error to see why. While Splitleaf builds, the tab keeps the last good version and its links.

Linked folders

The agent can now copy a file from a linked folder into your site. It never replaces a file that is already there. Linked folders and the alt text that you set in Assets now stay on your computer. They do not sync to your team. Alt text in your pages still syncs.
